Tasvir
Deutsch: Tübingen: Unterer Teil (Zeile 1 bis 2) des Chorscheitelfensters im Chorraum der Stiftskirche zu St. Georg mit Patron- und Stifterdarstellungen, um 1478 von Peter Hemmel von Andlau geschaffen. Darstellungen von links nach rechts:
English: Tübingen, Germany, St. George’s Collegiate Church: The lower part of the central window in the apse, showing the church patron and the founder, created about 1478 by Peter Hemmel of Andlau.
  1. On the left, Eberhard I (1445–1496), from 1495 the first duke of Württemberg and Teck, founder of the University of Tübingen, who also commanded the expansion of the choir of the Collegiate Church because it also served as the great hall of the new university; around Eberhard there are palm tress which, together with the motto Attempto (“I dare”), adorned Eberhard’s coat of arms.
  2. The second part shows Saint George, the church patron, killing the dragon.
  3. The identity of the man in the third part is unclear; his standard shows the coat of arms of Württemberg and the County of Montbéliard, his shield the coat of arms of Tübingen.
  4. At the right, Barbara Gonzaga (1455–1503), Eberhard’s wife, from 1495 the first Duchess consort of Württemberg.
Hint: The frame of the window is not completely orthogonal in reality, but somewhat curved, this is not a problem of the photograph ;–).
